If we are looking for evidence regarding who fired first, it is not difficult to determine. This photograph could be sent to Mr. Sam Rainsy, who might use it for another interview with the Thai press.
Warrant Officer First Class Suon Ron lost his life after being ambushed by Thai soldiers—he was still wearing shorts at the time—during a clash between Cambodian and Thai forces at the "Three-Corner" (Mom Bei) border area in Preah Vihear province on the morning of May 28, 2025.
As for who fired first? Our soldiers stationed at Ta Muen Thom—from Brigade 42, led by Neak Vong—as well as those at Ta Krabei, under the Oddar Meanchey Provincial Military Sub-region, all know clearly who opened fire first: the invading Thai bandits.
In the early morning of July 24, 2025, Thai troops surreptitiously laid barbed wire around the Ta Muen Thom temple, encircling it to the point of blocking the access route from the Cambodian side. Subsequently, the Thai side deployed a drone to monitor the activities of Cambodian soldiers. After our patrol unit discovered that the Thais were surreptitiously installing barbed wire, they intervened to stop them. This led to a verbal confrontation, followed by warning shots fired by the Thais to force our soldiers to retreat—as seen in the video. At that moment, our troops—who were not yet fully prepared—rushed to retrieve their weapons, took up their respective defensive positions, and an exchange of fire ensued.
At that time, a rumor spread widely—causing quite a stir—that Roeun Rithy and two other soldiers had been killed by Thai forces while attempting to stop the installation of the barbed wire. In reality, however, he did not die; he is still alive today.
🇰🇭 Both our national leadership and our diplomatic representatives have exposed the aggression of the Thai intruders to the world. It was the Thai side that opened fire first, violated the ceasefire, employed weaponry in breach of international law, and bulldozed the land and homes of the Khmer people. Only a group of traitors would claim that "the Khmer side fired first, prompting the Thais to retaliate." Come to think of it, this guy is a traitor—truly beyond redemption...
