Bronzes at the Guimet: The much-anticipated exhibition - Royal Bronzes of Angkor, an Art of the Divine - at the Guimet Museum in Paris will open on 30 April until 8 September 2025. It will host over 200 works including 126 pieces loaned specifically from the National Museum of Cambodia. This is a once-in-a-lifetime exhibition of bronzes. The Guimet National Museum of Asian Arts opened to the public in 1889, and the collection of sculptures from Cambodia first began to arrive in France with the Louis Delaporte expedition in 1873, with their first home at Château de Compiègne before their exhibition at Palais du Trocadéro. Much of the Guimet’s invaluable collection materialized when the latter closed in 1927. Subsequent late-19th century missions to Cambodia and the formation of EFEO to supervise the Angkor monuments in 1907, allowed the collection to grow into the most comprehensive inventory anywhere outside of Cambodia. The Guimet will obviously add many of their own bronzes to the forthcoming exhibition, so here are some of their key sculptures which may also be included in the display.Credit By :Andy Brouwer
