Some young women come to me for coaching and leave a lasting mark on my heart

Some young women come to me for coaching and leave a lasting mark on my heart. Deanna Sofía Perdue is one of them. While I’ve helped her grow in confidence, she has reminded me how much courage it takes to keep believing in your dreams. Almost three months ago, she asked me to help her prepare for Teen Universe in Cambodia, representing Panama. As we worked together, I discovered just how extraordinary she is.

An outstanding student, gifted athlete, and violinist, Deanna will attend Mississippi State University on a full scholarship, pursuing her dream of becoming a pediatric cardiologist. Knowing her story makes that dream especially meaningful.

A few years ago, she suffered cardiac arrest and nearly lost her life. She faced a difficult recovery and was told she might never play sports again. Yet she returned to tennis and won a championship. She continued playing the violin and found in pageantry a platform to encourage others facing difficult moments.

What I admire most is her heart, her values, and her determination. She knows what it means to need support, and she wants to offer that same encouragement to someone else.

Throughout our preparation, she came ready to listen, learn, and work. Watching her embrace this experience in Cambodia, honoring their culture OMG, She looks spectacular! But seeing her confidence and joy means even more because I know the effort behind them.

Deanna, thank you, and your mom, for trusting me. I’m so proud of our work together and deeply grateful to be part of your journey. Take a moment to breathe it all in and feel proud of yourself. You worked so hard to be there.

Keep sharing that beautiful heart and showing the world who you are. Whatever happens on that stage, you have already given us so much to celebrate.

Now lift your head, enjoy your moment, and say it with pride: “Mi nombre es Panama!” 🇵🇦❤️❤️❤️
