⛔️Thai Forces Display Boastful and Disrespectful Behavior Toward AOT
On 29 April 2026, at 10:20 AM, the Military Attachés Corps in Phnom Penh (MACPP), led by the Cambodian Ministry of National Defence, conducted an observation visit to the O’Smach International Border Checkpoint in Oddar Meanchey Province, where Thai forces have blocked access using shipping containers and occupied following the renewed ceasefire.
During the on-site observation and inspection, five instances of gunfire were initiated by Thai military forces between 10:35 AM and 11:09 AM. A total of nine rounds were fired, involving both M79 and M16 weapons.
Such actions demonstrate arrogant, boastful, and disrespectful behavior toward military attachés from multiple countries who were present at the scene.
Thai forces reacted strongly during the inspection and evidence-recording process, apparently out of anger and frustration toward the visiting team. However, such threatening actions are deeply regrettable, unacceptable, and potentially dangerous, as they could be perceived as intimidation and a lack of respect toward Cambodian authorities and the AOT delegation.
These incidents expose a pattern of provocative and coercive conduct by Thai forces toward Cambodia. Their actions—including the use of armed force, continued encroachment, and occupation—constitute violations of Cambodia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Furthermore, Thai military personnel and civilians have reportedly attempted to create a “fait accompli” on the ground by constructing infrastructure in the disputed areas, including roads, public gatherings, and the installation of religious symbols such as Buddha statues. There are also claims that Cambodian villagers have been displaced, with thousands allegedly prevented from accessing their homes and properties—raising serious concerns regarding human rights and international humanitarian law.
Taken together, these actions represent a deliberate attempt to alter the situation on the ground and constitute a clear violation of Cambodia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
