There are five important reasons that will surely clear the doubts of international opinion and make the international community understand that Thailand is the aggressor, while Cambodia is the one that Thailand should invade:

1- Cambodia, as a small country, cannot wage war against Thailand, as a big country…

- Cambodia is a small country, small in terms of territory, small in terms of economy, small in terms of military power, and small in terms of ambition. Therefore, Cambodia cannot invade a country that is three times stronger than itself, like Thailand. Cambodia has always been patient and called for a peaceful resolution of the border dispute, from before the first outbreak of hostilities until the acceptance of the ceasefire on July 28, 2025 and the joint statement on peace on October 26, 2025. If Cambodia really wants war, why has Cambodia been trying to create and maintain peace since 1998?

Second - Cambodia demands respect for the border line according to the internationally recognized border treaty, but Thailand demands the border line according to its unilateral map…

- Cambodia and Thailand are neighbors with clear border lines defined by the Franco-Siamese Convention of 1904, the Franco-Siamese Treaty of 1907 and internationally recognized maps, as well as a Memorandum of Understanding in 2000 on the measurement and demarcation of the land border in order to establish a border of peace, friendship and development with each other 100%. Therefore, there is no reason for Cambodia to intend or attempt to violate and invade Thailand’s sovereignty.

Third - Cambodia uses international mechanisms to resolve border issues, but Thailand waged war to invade territory…

- In fact, in the Cambodia-Thailand border dispute, both in the 1954 conflict, the 2008-2011 conflict, and the current conflict, Cambodia has always adhered to international mechanisms and international law in resolving border issues with Thailand.  As a result of this legal choice, Cambodia has succeeded. In the cases of Preah Vihear Temple in 1962 and 2013, the International Court of Justice ruled that Preah Vihear Temple and the area around Preah Vihear Temple are within Cambodian sovereignty. This shows that Cambodia is a country that defends its sovereignty using international legal mechanisms and there is no reason for Cambodia to reject the mechanisms that it has successfully used twice and instead go to war with Thailand.

4- Cambodia is well aware of the tragedy of war and places the highest value on peace…

- Cambodia is a peace-loving country. Over the past nearly 50 years, after going through decades of chronic war, including the genocidal Khmer Rouge regime, the Royal Government of Cambodia and all Cambodian people have placed the highest value on peace, to the point of receiving the Golden Thumb for World Peace in 2021 and the Thumb for Peace for Humanity and the Planet in 2024, as well as the ASEAN Award in 2025. Cambodia has been through a lot of wars, and Cambodia needs peace and stability for national economic development.  Thus, there is no reason for Cambodia to invade any country and start a war to destroy the hard-won peace.

5- Thailand declares open war and brutally attacks Cambodia…

- The resurgence of the border war, since December 7, 2025 until now, the Thai Prime Minister and the Thai Supreme Commander have declared war on the Thai military to attack Cambodia by expanding the land border by more than 800 kilometers and launching military operations to invade more than 80-90 kilometers deep into Cambodian territory.  In this regard, Thailand has used all types of forces, both land, air and sea, including F-16 and Gripen fighter jets, cluster bombs, poison gas, drones, drones, artillery, long-range rocket launchers, tanks, armored vehicles, and infantry to destroy civilian infrastructure such as bridges, schools, monasteries, refugee camps, and residential areas, and has continued to refuse to respect the ceasefire. Therefore, it is clear that Cambodia is not the aggressor and the warlord against Thailand, and these actions are not the exercise of the right to self-defense as Thailand claims.

-Based on these five points, Cambodia is the victim of self-defense, and Thailand is the one who started the war of aggression and took over Cambodian territory.
