A mother’s heart truly aches when she sees others harming her child. Prasat Preah Vihear, a treasured Khmer cultural heritage site and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, has been damaged as a result of the Thai military’s armed aggression on Cambodian territory. They fired upon and destroyed parts of the temple, including the conservation building of the Phase 5 Preah Vihear Conservation and Restoration Project under Cambodia–India cooperation, located in the Gopura V area, along with other structures of the temple.

Seeing these images of destruction caused by the Thai military during their incursion into Cambodian territory is deeply painful. As a Khmer child, it breaks my heart and makes me mourn the priceless legacy of our ancestors.

I pray to the sacred merits of our former Khmer Kings and Queens to protect the Kingdom of Cambodia, safeguard its cultural heritage and its people, and especially watch over the courageous Cambodian soldiers who are defending our territorial integrity. May they overcome all threats and be blessed with peace and safety.
