It is a perfect metaphor to symbolize ′′ Spiritual ′′ awakening in the research of enlightenment, it represents the Moksha for the Hindu Kings, or the spiritual Ascension of Deva raja to Nirvana for a Buddhist Kings, the 7th chakras buried in us. Although the ancient Khmer have always adopted the Prang Form (The Lotus Buds) since the ancient times at their architecture, they have never neglected the learning of Spiritual Awakening. Yoga Astra was a Royal Education, combined with the Great Builder. Who believed That by erecting great temples for deities or in the praise of the Buddha could reap it from heavenly good deeds for blessing our Karma, in order to continue its spiritual ascent towards enlightenment (Mooksha or Nirvana)
Something that most Greats scholars don't understand very well and believed the Great Builders wanted be represented as ′′ God on Earth ′′
It is due of The title of Deva Raja (God-King) from the Hindu/Buddhist societal doctrine. But it was more of a title of universal sovereignty over the immense territory of an emperor over many Kings and kingdoms and its influence.

In the ordinary man, kundalini remains in a state called ′′ resting ", it is ′′ sleepy ′′ in the chakra muladhara, which is the root (mula) of Suṣumṇā and all nadi. At this place is located the triangle (trikoṇa) with the base at the top and the top below, called Traipura which is the seat of the kundalini. Kundalini is wrapped three and a half times around Shiva's symbolic linga. When the kundalini is ′′ awake ", through a complex and tantric initiatic process, it penetrates inside sushumnā and, during its ascent, ′′ drills ′′ the different ′′ lotus ′′ that thrive as it passes. The goal of kundalini awakening is to lead to the realization of the Self (mocksha). Upon awakening, the kundalini goes up the spine from the sacrum to the fontanelle bone, progressing from one of the seven chakras to another to harmonize them one by one through the sushumna canal.
The SPIRITUAL awakening, was perhaps the most important thing coveted by all the Hindu/Buddhist Kings of all civilizations, by the emblem of Khmer Art, have recovered this form of Pine apple several times in architecture. Prang was erected as Lotus Bud. Often 3 who had a special symbol. Prang is the representation of Mount Meru on Earth. Who is in the Himalayas chain and is known to be the most culminating point on earth. It is the crown of the Earth. In Hindu culture, we think God Shiva and his consort Parvati are sitting on the roof of the earth. It thus represents the home of the trimurti (3 Gods) and the passage to the 3 Worlds ;
- Tan Nerouk (Hell)
- Tan Kandal (Earth)
- Tan Sour (heavens)
Lotus’s prang or pine cone is a perfect metaphor to describe the Spiritual elevation at the top of the Mountain.
The Buddhists believe that by going around the mountain meru 3 times we can reach Nirvana in a next lives .
Hindus believe that if climbed Mount Meru could reach Moksha in a next lives.
It is through this symbolism that Mount Meru is often represented in Khmer art. From the temples Edifice to the crown and 7th Chakras on the head. Which symbolizes the Lotus bud. May every great kings wish to make it blossom / awaken it within a framework of spiritual ascension.
